Being involved in cricket clubs since the age of 12, I’ve seen a lot of the challenges that clubs have been facing over the last 20 years.

I've enjoyed being part of a club and have matured through the grades. I have also been more involved in my local cricket club’s committee over the past years and have now stepped up to the role of club president.

With these opportunities, I now know firsthand the challenges that clubs like mine are facing to keep members, attract new members and supporters. Along with the most important thing of all for non-profit organisations, the sponsor’s dollar.

With the growth of the internet and with today’s community being so reliant on it for information, my club created a website to help with some of those challenges.

We knew that Community, Team or Club Sport websites are a perfect way to reach new interest, advertise sponsors and keep your current members informed and up to date. It is a critical tool for a successful and happy community environment.

However keeping it up to date and meaningful for members and visitors became another challenge in itself. As the sponsors dollar got harder, affording to pay for web hosting or development just wasn’t an option. Plus with today's busy environment, asking a local member with programming skills to take the time to edit the site just wasn’t working enough to really provide our members with up to date information regularly.

So, using my 10 years’ experience in database web development I began to develop the beginnings of My Club Website.

Over the past 3 years I have been creating a tool for my club which would allow anyone to update our club website with the basic knowledge of computers and the internet. With a few clicks on a button my club's website could be updated to inform our visitors and members of important news, events, game statuses and much more relating to our club through an easy to use public and administration interface.

We have had numerous positive comments and enquiries come through from our site since we started using the My Club Website Content Management System and template. We believe it’s now become a critical tool within our club environment that will enable us to grow and succeed into the future.
